"Artificial Cornea Saves Eyesight".
This is the news article i studied recently. Advancements like this make things better. So definitely there is hope for those having problems with eye sight. Though awareness with respect to "Eye Donation" is spreading, the ratio of donors to people who need them is in a mismatch.

Solution -- Technology.
" Scientists have developed an artificial cornea. The first implants have already been tested in rabbits' eyes -- with promising results. If further tests are successful, the technology will be tried on humans in 2008. (Credit: Image courtesy of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft) "
